Music Career ResolutionsDate: Fri, 7. January 2011 08:41:07
I know, I know. You're going to be reading a lot about resolutions this week. I'm going to write about it anyway, because despite the somewhat cliched-ness of the topic, resolutions are actually pretty cool, and can be especially handy for your music career. Why? Because making resolutions forces you to do something uber-important to your music career (or any career, actually) - to make a resolution, you have to sit down, decide what you want and plan how to get it. That skill is invaluable in the music biz, especially if you're going it alone in the industry, without a team of people telling you what you next step will be.
As we talk about a lot around these parts, it's never enough to, say, have a great show. You have to know even before your stellar performance how you will use a great show to find and retain new fans, drum up press interest, get another show, and so on. Your resolutions are a road map for getting that kind of stuff done throughout the year, so come December 2011, when we have this conversation again, you'll be sitting pretty.
So, to that end, check out a few suggested resolutions, and then share your own goals for the new year. No idea is too big or too small. No matter if your goal is to record your first song or release your tenth album, let us hear about it.
